Grage wood, also known as Leopardwood or Lacewood, is a precious species native to Guyana and northern Amazonia.
It is immediately distinguished by its unique pattern reminiscent of snakeskin or scales, due to the presence of large medullary rays. This spectacular appearance makes it one of the most decorative woods in the region.
Its nuanced pink to reddish-brown color, sometimes punctuated by darker reflections, gives it a singular and warm charm. A dense and relatively hard wood, Grage wood combines resistance and aesthetics, offering an ideal material for original creations.
Highly appreciated by artisans and designers, it is used in fine cabinetry, marquetry, cutlery (handles), turning, jewelry, and decorative objects, but also in high-end furniture and veneered panels, where its unique grain can be fully expressed.
Advantages: spectacular "snakeskin" grain, dense and resistant wood, exceptional decorative rendering.
Main applications: cabinetry, furniture, cutlery, turning, jewelry, marquetry.
Average density: approx. 800 kg/m³.
