Wacapou is a precious wood from French Guiana, highly sought after in Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries in the form of veneers, where it was nicknamed "partridge wood" or "wheat ear". Internationally, it is known as Ritangueira .
Dense and with an extremely fine grain, this rare wood gives off a subtle camphorated and mentholated scent. Pleasant to work with, it offers an exceptional polish, even more refined than that of wenge, to which its color can be compared.
Wacapou is particularly suitable for furniture, lutherie (fingerboards, tops, backs and sides), but also for cutlery, turning and even jewelry.
